As part of my series on fertility foods, I've already told you about the amazing power of bone broth and sardines, and now I will let you know about the fertility boosting power of kale. Kale has fertility boosting power for many reasons. Kale is high in Vitamins A, C & D and minerals Calcium and Manganese. These nutrients in Kale are very important to fertility, but one very important fertility boosting nutrient in Kale is diindolylmethane.
The diindolylmethane in fertility boosting kale helps block estrogen, meaning it helps balance your hormones. As a supplement, it's been used to reduce symptoms of PMS and prevent cancers such as colon and breast cancer. In addition to kale helping balance hormones, kale also boosts fertility by alkanizing the body.
In their book, the Fertility Diet, my teachers Jorge Chavarro and Walter Willett, discuss the need to reduce acidity in the body. As I mentioned, in my post about bone broth, reducing acidity, reduces inflammation. In addition to reducing inflammation, reducing acidity also boosts fertility by creating a less acidic environment for fertilization. Eating alkanizing foods such as kale and other vegetables, ensures that the vaginal mucous has a higher PH. Lower PH levels in the vagina can inactivate and even destroy sperm.
Finally, kale is full of antioxidants which help to reduce the effects of free radicals from sunlight and environmental stressors, which can cause damage to the reproductive organs, eggs and sperm.
